Once again I had the honors of representing the state of Alaska by attended the National Convention. This year the convention was in Louisville Kentucky.
What a good time, the weather was hot and humid. I of course had to stay in the air condition as much as possible.
Margaret and Ron as usual took grand care of Ana and I. Margaret had a big smile as she was a retiree all of two days. Congratulations Margaret and thanks for your experience with conventions.
There were some good classes especially for larger offices. I enjoyed the TSP class and was looking forward to the Small Office Variance(SOV) but it was cancelled.
There were more first timers than I have seen a previous conventions. Ana, our State President was a first timer and represented us well.
I was disappointed that some postmasters who had planned on attending the convention couldn’t attend due to lack of help or no help at all. A lot of us have been working six days a week and really do need a break and interaction with other postmasters.
Wes Foster our newsletter editor won the National Editors Award in Category three and we are so proud of him. Congratulations Wes and thanks for all the time and energy you spend getting the newsletter out.
Anna did a little dancing with us at the banquet and found out a little exercise does get the blood sugar down. So we all do need some exercise or should we go dancing. Keep up the good work Ana.
I went to a restaurant and they had a salmon special which I thought I would have but low and behold it was farmed salmon. (no thanks). I thought maybe next year we should advertise our healthy Alaska Wild Salmon.
My trip down to louisville was long. My flight to Anchorage was late leaving King Salmon so I missed my Anchorage connection and had to reroute. Instead of arriving at louisville at 9am., I arrived there at 10:30pm. I did though have my baggage this time. The trip home was great
I’ve already taken advantage of the lower registration fee and registered for the 2009 in Buffalo NY. So God Willing I’ll Be there and hope to see alot of you there.
